S.T.E.A.M.

Our S.T.E.A.M. & Design Clubs support our students as they explore the intersection between engineering and innovation. The Robotics Club and Girls Who Code are two of  Wolcott’s Innovation Clubs. They provide opportunities for students to creatively pursue interests in technology while also strengthening leadership skills, fostering cooperation, and improving time management and communication skills. City-wide competitions offer students a chance to showcase their work.

In our Innovation & Design Lab, students learn about engineering design through the use of advanced machinery, including laser cutters, 3D printers, and CNC carving tools (computer numerical control).  Through coding and building functional products including robots, these clubs inspire students as they learn about mechanical, electronic, and software systems.

Wolcott’s Robotics team, the Bionic Wolves, has been invited to present as conference speakers from 2016-2020 based on their innovative methods of computer coding, and has also received recognition by the “Educate to Innovate” White House Initiative. The Wolcott team has been recognized by the Inspire blog on the FIRST website, which is shared to over a million people in 100 + countries.
