Wolcott College Prep proudly hosted a virtual workshop featuring nationally renowned author and college admissions expert Ethan Sawyer, also known as the College Essay Guy. Open to students, parents, guardians, and educators, the interactive session offered invaluable guidance on writing a compelling and authentic college essay.
Drawing from over two decades of experience and his best-selling books College Essay Essentials and College Admission Essentials, Sawyer broke down the essay-writing process with clarity, warmth, and a touch of humor. Participants learned what distinguishes a great personal statement, the four key traits of standout essays, and how to uncover and articulate meaningful personal stories—especially through uncommon connections and achievements.
Through live analysis of a successful essay and a thoughtful Q&A session, Sawyer demystified the writing process and empowered attendees to approach their college essays with confidence, purpose, and creativity.
With over a million students and educators reached annually through his work, Ethan Sawyer’s visit exemplified Wolcott’s commitment to equipping students—and their families—with the tools and support needed to navigate the college process successfully.
